I Wonder...January 16th

 I Wonder . . .  January 16, 2022

Luke 3:15-22

15As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, 16John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” 18So, with many other exhortations, he proclaimed the good news to the people. . .. . 21Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, 22and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”

Watch the Children's Sermon here

It is so wonderful seeing all of your smiling faces in the introduction video to the Time with Children! I miss you all!

I Wonder. . .

  • What chaff is

  • What it means, or symbolizes when it is used in the Bible

  • What are some different kinds of chaff

  • What ‘chaff’ or stuff in my life keeps me from loving God and others

  • What some things are in your life that you don’t need

  • What things make your life messy

  • What ways are there for you to remove or get rid of those things in your life that make it messy or that you don’t need anymore

  • How you can trade the chaff of stress and worry for ‘grains of gratitude’

Prayer

Dear God, help us figure out what things in our life we don’t need any more and find ways to remove them. Thank you so much for all the wonderful blessings you give us. Help us to focus on all those good things and remember to thank you for all you give us. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Extensions

  • Find a video to see what chaff is

  • Find a video that shows how they separate the chaff from the grain

  • Make a list of things you don’t need any more

  • Ask an adult to help you find a way to get rid of things you don’t need

  • Write a thank you note to someone to let them know how you appreciate them
