I Wonder...May 15th: "Jesus Was Like Us"

Image
Watch the Time with Children segment from service on Sunday Hebrews 2:14-18 14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 16 For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason he had to be made like them, [ a ] fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 18 Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. I Wonder . . .   if you ever thought about Jesus the way Louis did what kinds of things you wonder about Jesus what you have been embarrassed about if there is someone you can talk to when you are embarrassed if you know Jesus is with you even when it doesn’t feel lik

I Wonder...April 24th - "Earth Care Sunday"

I Wonder: April 24, 2022: "Earth Care Sunday" I would like for you to take an imaginary journey with me. If you would, please close your eyes for a few minutes. Think about a place outside that you like to go to. There are so many beautiful places that it’s hard for me to choose. Will you choose somewhere in the mountains – somewhere you’ve been hiking? Or on a beach hearing the waves rush onto the shore? I have seen some wonderful waterfalls – maybe you’d like to be there. Or a desert with the cactus all around. Growing up we spent a lot of times in the woods. This time of the year we would be watching for mushrooms to pop up. I hope you are feeling relaxed and comfortable and enjoying this place in your mind. Now imagine what it would look like ruined – trees cut down, cactus dying, there are no animals, the waterfalls are just a trickle of water, there is trash all around – wrappers, plastic bags stuck everywhere. What can you do to clean it up, to make it as beautiful as

Easter I Wonder...April 17th

I Wonder - Easter 2022 1.     Cross  The day Jesus died was very sad. It was a Friday. A man in the crowd helped Jesus to carry his cross to a place called Golgotha. When Jesus died on the cross, it was so sad that people say the sun refused to shine.   2.     Rock/Tomb  When Jesus died, Joseph of Arimathea wrapped Jesus’ body in linen and placed him in a tomb sealed with a large stone so that no one would trouble Jesus’ body. 3.     Sunrise  Three days later, on a Sunday, very early in the morning, while it was still dark with tints of purple and pink in the sky, some women went to the tomb. They were too unhappy to notice the beautiful sky. In fact, they were so distracted and sad they even forgot about the big rock sealing Jesus’ tomb. How would they roll it away? All they wanted was to care for Jesus’ body. 4.     Empty Tomb  When the women arrived they found that the stone had been rolled away! They looked inside the tomb; it was dark, cold, and empty. The women were scared.

I Wonder for April 10, 2022 Watch the Children's Sermon Here Scripture Luke 19:28-44 28 After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them, 30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’” 32 Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them. 33 As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, “Why are you untying the colt?” 34 They replied, “The Lord needs it.” 35 They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36 As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road. 37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud v

I Wonder for the week of April 3, 2022 Scripture Reference꞉ Matthew 26꞉12-13; John 12꞉1-8 Mary Anoints Jesus' Feet I Wonder . . . . . what Mary was thinking when she poured the oil on Jesus’ feet how the other disciples felt when they saw it what everyone thought when Judas said what he did if you have ever done something really nice for someone, but other people didn’t understand how Mary would feel if she heard people telling this story Prayer Dear God, help us to have the courage to follow where you lead us, even if others don’t understand. I Wonder...March 27th

I Wonder for March 27, 2022 Watch the Children's Sermon Here 2 Corinthians 5:17-20 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:[ a ] The old has gone, the new is here! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. I Wonder . . . . . how you feel when you hear people arguing if you’ve ever been caught between two friends who are arguing with each other how you would handle it if you’ve ever had an argument, but later couldn’t remember what it was about if you know how much God loves you Prayer God, we are grateful that you make up with us even when we do things that we shouldn’t. Thank you for
